Choosing where to say “I do” is one of the most meaningful parts of planning your wedding or elopement. For us, the outdoors has always held a special place in our lives. It’s where we’ve shared quiet moments, explored together, and felt a sense of peace. When it came to planning our wedding, we knew we wanted a space that reflected that love for nature without adding unnecessary stress or breaking the budget. Algonquin Park, with its stunning forests, serene lakes, and natural beauty, gave us all of that and more.

When we got married, I hoped for a day that felt relaxed and peaceful, without the pressure or distractions of elaborate planning. I wanted to savour every moment, surrounded by the beauty of nature, and Algonquin delivered. With vibrant fall leaves, breathtaking lookouts, and crystal-clear blue water, the setting was nothing short of magical.

One of the best parts of getting married in Algonquin was how simple it was. There’s no fee for holding a small ceremony in the park—just a request to keep your gathering intimate and respect other visitors. Without needing elaborate decorations or setups, the day felt refreshingly uncomplicated. Our biggest concern was arranging Daily Vehicle Permits (DVPs) for ourselves and our guests.

We chose a trail along the Highway 60 corridor, where the cell reception was reliable. This allowed us to include family members who couldn’t attend in person through FaceTime. Having them join us virtually made the experience even more meaningful.

Surrounded by falling leaves and overlooking a calm lake, we stood together and recited our vows. In that moment, time seemed to stop. It wasn’t about impressing anyone or following traditions—it was simply about us and the promises we made to one another.
